With the days warming up the solar drier is back in action. We had our first try of making solar dried kale chips with our interns and they worked a treat!

Tear the kale leaves into pieces and toss them in olive oil and sea salt then put them in trays in the drier, the time will depend totally on the amount of sun so it’s best to start in the morning (you want to avoid taking food in and out of the drier over night).

When the chips are ready they are crispy and delicious, they can be stored in an air tight container but our have never made it that far………….they’re just to morish.

Thanks to Quentin Bligh for building our solar drier, more details available if you want to purchase one.
